Training ambitions realised at aspirational Anwyl
Three years ago, the Anwyl Group, announced its ambitious training and development aspirations for staff across the business, and is now able to celebrate the success of each member of staff involved.
In 2017, Anwyl presented 30 individual career opportunities through training and development programmes for students, mature students and school leavers in roles ranging from health and safety, business development and marketing to site management, quantity surveying and procurement. Three years on, and all programmes have been successfully completed, steering all staff further forward on their career journey.
We set out a commitment in 2017 to support a considerable number of staff with their professional development under many different guises and disciplines across the business. Its brilliant to be able to reflect, particularly in such a challenging environment, on the many achievements of our team as they develop new skills and secure important and worthwhile accreditations.

Over 10 team members have achieved their HNC in Construction & the Built Environment and are working towards further training, whilst others are developing their BTEC accreditations in various disciplines. A number of Site Managers and Assistant Site Managers are also working towards NVQs whilst all Site Managers and Assistant Site Managers have completed their SMSTS.
Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Kim Curtis, achieved her HNC in Building Studies. Kim spent two years completing the qualification on a day release to college, whilst working full time during the remaining days.
It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to complete further education and obtain my HNC in Building studies at a later stage in my career. My qualification has provided me with improved knowledge in my field, but most of all I now have more confidence in my day-to-day work. I’ve found I am able to work more independently to deliver successful project outcomes whilst developing myself and my career along the way.
At just 21, Jessica Phillips has now achieved her qualifications in NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Construction and SMSTS, along with a host of other safety training courses which enable her to inspect and assess site working practices. Since joining Anwyl, Jess has been promoted within the company from, ‘Trainee Health & Safety Advisor’, to, ‘HSE Assistant Advisor’ – an incredible achievement.
Jack Wynne has been promoted from Trainee Buyer to Assistant Buyer having completed a BTEC Level 3 in Building and Construction, gaining two distinctions and has now moved onto the HNC in Building and Construction.
Since joining Anwyl in 2018 my career has developed and I have strengthened my skillset. Being supported by Anwyl to solidify my experience with a BTEC qualification is fantastic and I’m pleased to now be continuing with my professional development and hope to achieve my HNC in 2022. Completing the HNC will allow me to expand my knowledge within the industry and allow me to develop academically too. The support I have received from Anwyl throughout my time here has been fantastic and I am excited to see what the future has to hold for me within Anwyl as the company continues to grow.
We believe our people to be our strongest assets and investing in their professional development is an important part of the businesses evolution.
