Welcome to this consultation website, hosted by Anwyl Partnerships. It sets out our proposed redevelopment of the former AHK Group Headquarters, Prescot Road, St Helens, and gives you the opportunity to comment on these plans.
The proposals are for 55 affordable homes, including extensive landscaping, amenity space and car parking.
This website provides the local community with information on the site, its context and details of the proposals. It will also provide a platform to submit comments and suggestions. Note that these designs are subject to change, so please check the website for the latest update.
The site is circa 1.45 hectares and is located within St Helens. It was formerly occupied by Alfred H Knight Ltd, utilised as a laboratory for the analysis of metals and other items to support mining and waste industries. The site has been vacant since 2017 when the company relocated to more suitable premises.
The existing buildings are in decline. They comprise a two-storey brick structure in the centre of the site, with single storey extensions and ancillary buildings to the south. Several storage containers are also located within the site.
Within the Council’s development plan, the site is not allocated for any specific use but sits within the settlement boundary and is surrounded by residential use. As such, the site represents a sustainable brownfield location ideal for redevelopment, which will both vastly improve the visual appearance of the site whilst also reducing pressure to develop land within the Green Belt.
The proposal is for 55 affordable homes providing a mixture of 3 and 4-bedroom houses, along with 2-bedroom apartments.
To compliment the homes, private amenity space and landscaping will be provided with a key focus on the retention of key trees across the site.
The proposals will:
- Provide affordable homes for people in real need
- Retain the majority of trees on-site
- Provide additional tree planting and landscaping
- Redevelop a brownfield site in a residential area
The proposals will be supported by a comprehensive submission package of plans and reports which will assess the suitability of the scheme.
